This study concerned the steady flow analysis of the water flow going through an annular valve and exhaust pipe.
A high quality fully-hexahedral unstructured mesh was generated using HEXPRESS™. Several openings were considered, and the mesh template of the first configuration was re-used to generate the different meshes.
The 3D CFD calculations were performed using FINE™/Open software. Pressure losses were computed and streamlines were shown in order to identify the recirculation areas in the device.
The pictures feature the 3D streamlines, the high quality unstructured mesh, and a detailed view of the 2D streamlines in a cutting plane through the valve.
