This CFD study aimed to analyse the 3D flow inside a vapor spray nozzle circuit. The dissymmetry of the flow going through the injection holes was computed in order to select the optimum design.

A high quality unstructured mesh was generated with NUMECA's HEXPRESS™ software. The mesh contained more than 20 million cells, including all of the small injection holes. The flow was computed using NUMECA's FINE™/Open software.

The post-processing included an analysis of the performances for the different designs. The dissymmetry of the flow was computed based on the averaged velocities inside each injection hole. Detailed flow visualizations included flow streamlines, velocity and pressure contours in several cutting planes through the device.
